Cigarette materials cause more civilian deaths than any other source. We must educate people how to handle lighters, matches, and cigarettes cautiously, especially around children.

• Provide deep, sturdy ashtrays

• Empty ashtrays regularly

• Always wet the ashtrays contents before disposing.

• Check upholstery to make sure there are no smoking materials smoldering.

• Never allow smoking in bed.

• Keep matches and lighters out of reach of children.

• Have smoke detectors installed in your home.
